[Abk. für. Personal Computer Memory Card International Association, dt. »Internationale Vereinigung für PC-Speicherkarten«], in den USA beheimatetes Gremium, das Standards für scheckkartengroße Erweiterungskarten definiert. Früher nannte man diese Karten PCMCIA-Karten, heute PC-Cards.
 
Die PCMCIA ist ein nicht profitorientierter Zusammenschluss von Unternehmen aus beiden Computerbereichen: der Software- und der Hardware-Branche. Sie wurde 1989 gegründet und hat ihren Sitz im kalifornischen San Jose (USA) sowie eine Außenstelle in Taiwan. Die PCMCIA hat mittlerweile über 200 Mitglieder, darunter die Firmen 3Com, AMD, Acer, Compaq, Ericsson, Fuji, Fujitsu, Infineon, Intel, Lucent Technologies, Microsoft, Nicon, Palm, Psion, Ricoh, Sony, Texas Instruments und Toshiba. Die Organisation ist assoziiert mit der JEITA (Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association, »japanischer Industrieverband für Elektronik und Informationstechnologie«; Sitz in Tokio).
